The People of UPLIFT

UPLIFT owes its continued existence to numerous people.

 The Partners

The partners are the foremost reason why UPLIFT was established.
The partners, our beneficiaries, come from depressed urban areas. They are usually women with a deep desire to supplement their families' incomes through small businesses, however, they have little or no access to financial credit. UPLIFT gives them the opportunity to start, or sustain, their businesses through microfinance.
Aside from microcredit, they and their families also benefit from the social services we provide them.

They are your everyday vendors selling their wares on the street. They are your neighborhood "sari-sari" (variety) store you run to when you need something quick. They make your childrens' stuffed toys, they cook the meals you eat. They are micro-entrepreneurs.

We visit them every now and then to see their progress, not only in their enterprises but also in their standard of living. Their optimism enables them to overcome poverty, send their children to school, bring food on their tables, and help the communities in which they live.

  The Program Staff

From the directors and managers, down to the accountants and encoders, the people at the Central/Resource Network, Calma, and Bulazon Head Offices ensure that our products and services are managed properly and in accordance to UPLIFT's Mission and Vision. They are a select group of people who are highly qualified in their field of work.

Most of the 118 Program staff also live within our partners' communities which enables us to understand their lives and needs. This understanding is applied and put in mind as they plan, implement and evaluate the various programs we provide our partners.

  The Branch Staff

The UPLIFT branch staff are at the frontline of our activities, directly interacting with our partners. They come from the communities where UPLIFT operates, and some have been former UPLIFT partners. The branch is composed of one Branch Manager who takes care of financial matters, and two to four Loan Development Officers or LDOs. They brave the heat of the sun, the rain, floods and all, to visit the partners, collect their payments, and ask how business is going.
