Pulong

Pulongs are a series of meetings where the partners are taught basic entrepreneurial skills and principles, as well as various social issues. The Pulong is one of UPLIFT's main social service, and a requirement for loan beneficiaries.

The Pulong Scheme

The scheme is divided into four courses:

After receiving their first loan, the partner is encouraged to attend the four mandatory Pulong sessions and participate in at least one issue-based Pulong of their choice. The mandatory Pulongs are a prerequisite for re-loaning. Once a partner has completed the mandatory sessions, he/she may then apply for a re-loan.

We believe that the Pulong, especially the mandatory sessions, is an integral part of microfinance. By giving them the proper knowledge in effective microenterprise management and social issues, they are thus more able to take care of their businesses, their families, and themselves.
